SPECIAL ED/SPECIAL CARE EA – 2018/2019 SCHOOL YEAR

3.75 HOURS PER DAY @ SOUTH PRAIRIE ELEMENTARY

GENERAL DUTIES:

Perform a variety of instructional duties assisting a licensed staff member in the implementation of a specific program for individual students or small groups.

Knowledge of:

1. English language, spelling, mathematics, and technology.
2. Behavior management techniques.
3. Computers and software.

Ability to:

1. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively with students, parents and teachers.
2. Ability to follow general oral and written instructions.
3. Carry out duties of special care for students with behavior, medical or daily living skills
4. Ability to work independently and take initiative in task performance.
5. Ability to pass Criminal Background check ($59 fee)
6. Ability to meet the "Highly Qualified" paraprofessional requirements (*see below for information)    

EXPERIENCE:     Three years of experience working with students and public is desired

WAGES:   $13.01 - $14.36 per hour (DOE and per OSEA Union Agreement)

  Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Requirements

Tillamook School District requires that all paraprofessionals be “Highly Qualified”. There are 3 ways you can meet these requirements.

1. Possess an associate’s (or higher) degree, OR
2. Complete two years of study at an institute of higher education with a minimum of 72 quarter college credits or 48 semester college credits, OR
3. Pass a local assessment test demonstrating basic knowledge of reading, writing and mathematics skills. (Accuplacer)

TBCC AccuPlacer Test

Reading – Score 56 or above and place into at least RDWR 90

Writing – Score 53 or above and place into at least RDWR 90

Math – Score 26 or above in Arithmetic and place into at least MTH 20

TBCC offers the AccuPlacer test week days in the TBCC library, M-TH 9am-6pm, F - 9am-3pm) The cost is $20.
